“Do your best, and everything will just come out good,”
The first time Dream, Banthita Boontiam, realized her passion for photography was during her year abroad in Italy. When she heard about B.J.M. from her friend, she explored the program’s curriculum and found that its variety of provided courses possess the potential to meet her expectations and interests.
When asked about her portfolio, Dream explained that she started by making an outline. Then, from all of her cumulative work, she filtered out the information and activities that are unrelated to the program’s curriculum, and instead, put the related ones in an order of relevance. She also added in her participation in a skit competition, Sports Day event, and short film projects. The strengths of her portfolio originated from her achievements in media competitions, photography work, and a strong SoP.
Dream also took some time to read about the political news that was happening during that time in order to prepare for the admission interview. She said the interview was not that difficult, but she warned that the admission committee would try to make the applicants scared.
Her advice for the prospective students who may be preparing for the portfolio round was to put their best and all the relevant work in there, beginning with the biggest accomplishment and the most relevant ones.
Showing evidence of exchange study would indicate open-mindedness which could be a bonus point. Studying B.J.M.’s course description thoroughly would also help with writing a successful SoP.
In the future, Dream wanted to work in the advertising industry — possibly with a company that had an MoU with B.J.M. — and maybe do photography and shoot films as hobbies.
